To our delight, our last night at
anchor was spent at our own little piece of paradise, Tufa
Island. While the crew worked diligently at plans for
the evening festivities, the rest of us avoided the packing
chores and headed to the beach. The ocean kayaks were brought
down from the top deck of the Oleanda and the launch was
available for as many trips to the island as we wanted. We did
have an assignment, we had to dig through our luggage and
closets for the best "island wear" we could locate and that
was an adventure.
The challenge was issued
to anyone who dared to be the 2nd person in history to jump
from the smokestack of the Oleanda into the water below. The
feat was accomplished with style and on at least one occasion
without slightly different style.
The first person to leap from the
smokestack was our chef, Tomasi who demonstrated his skills
and then reported to the galley to prepare a feast for the
festivities -- lobster, shrimp, sashimi, and so much good food
that we feared we would again overstep our luggage allowances
on our return trip.
